Garmin Fenix 8 Review, But Only The Internals (A.K.A. Teardown)
Model naming? I’m an MIP guy, too. I’d always preferred Epix line to be Amoled and Fenix to continue with MIP. But as Fenix line is at a more known position naturally Garmin chose to go with a single name, thus making the naming kinda odd.

Yeap.

Fenix series are not glued as the bezel is screwed. However, you’ll need to glue Venu, Vivo or some Forerunner models as they don’t have screws.

Garmin Fenix 7X Solar Teardown (Non Destructive)
I’ve just closed the page I’m writing it and I’ll go sleep now. It’s closer to ready now. 😀

Even the GNSS chip may be the same. There are a few more options in Airoha but I’m not sure they’ll change it without a good reason.
As the main chip is already highly capable they may still continue to use it. Fenix 5X were using the same chip of Garmin Epix.
Btw, did you check service menu page of the watch? Does it display any amount of RAM available?» Posted By FeRHaD On 7 Ekim 2024 @ 3:07 am
Aah, I haven’t got it yet. But I’m thinking on a Solar one. 🙂

Hi. Garmin switched Cortex M33 platform recently and I don’t think they’ll change anything in the short term. Also as most Pro features is said to come to previous 7 series via software updates, I don’t plan to buy any Pro series watch. Also due to the same reason, I don’t think there are many differences in the engine inside. Even benchmark scores are close, so basically they share the same platform if not everything is same inside.
However, yeah, if I had one, I’d like to disassemble it. 🙂

‘Cos I had seen it when I removed it. It’s a thin sheet piezoelectric buzzer. It can produce high frequency treble sounds. It won’t make good low frequency sounds.

I don’t think there is such a sensor there.
In my opinion Garmin is still in testing phase of ECG sensors. They tried with Venu but disabled that in service menu later. And no news after that…
But I think we can see it in Fenix 8 series. 🙂

Hi. I updated the text. Info in that screenshot may be wrong also. M model seems to support IRNSS in L5 too.

Garmin Fenix 6X Pro Disassembly or Teardown whatever you say…
Cold environment causes the pattery to produce less energy, so it shouldn’t be related to it I think.
There is an antenna on the case, that’s for probably bluetooth and wifi. Check its connection, maybe it’s someway loose and can touch only when sth. is cold thus when less dilated.» Posted By FeRHaD On 28 Ocak 2025 @ 7:34 pm

Hi. Actually I really liked Fenix 6X and its GPS performance. Before that Garmin was using MTK 3333 GPS chips. With 6 series they switched to Sony chips. Sony chips consume a lot less power and their GPS performance is acceptable I think. Acceptable and maybe very good for me. I have 7X Solar now and I can’t say this is perfect too. This has a newer and better GPS processor and even this sometimes can fail stupidly. This is the nature of GNSS system. A lot of signals from satellites that are a lot of kilometers far and nanosecond delay causes issues. That delay may be a tree cover or a reflection from a stone etc. Algorithms are used to optimize the drawn tracks and those may create different results than the actual position. Total station devices used on land surveys have much better even perfect results. But they have better and bigger antennas, better chips, cost a lot of money and even than they want you to keep it in a fixed position until it’s sure it recorded the best position. While running you can’t stop to get a perfect fix every second.
I don’t think 6X GPS is bar or unusuble. It did all my job, and did it well… Btw, even metal bezel can have different effects on the signal.» Posted By FeRHaD On 12 Eylül 2024 @ 1:54 pm
Hi. Sorry for the late comment.
I don’t have any water problem with my watch and I almost teardown all of them to see what’s inside.
If the motor is simply unglued it’ll vibrate very nosily, you’ll understand something inside is loose and it’s hitting. If it’s not vibrating there may be some connection problems with films or sockets.» Posted By FeRHaD On 29 Mayıs 2024 @ 9:25 pm
Hi. It’s not easy to directly fix or actually optimize GPS on a small watch used for basically measuring movements. A Stationary device may be added a larger or a better antenna, but it’s not easy on the arm. I liked the accuracy of Fenix 6X but Fenix 7 series are much better probably due to a newer and more powerful GNSS chip. Thus a physical change that can be done is replacing the GNSS chip! Joking aside, it’s not easy. You need to have correct tools to measure everything. One post in Garmin forum said puting a copper wire around the watch increases accuracy. However, I didn’t want to test it.

Hi. I advise accessing inside from the front bezel. It’s easier to unscrew and open inside. Battery sits in the backside and it seems glued to the casing. This makes it harder to go inside without knowing how it is built…

Your backlight doesn’t work? Check your settings, try hardresetting it. No help? It’s apparently a hardware problem.

Hi, there is a teardown of Garmin Fenix 7X Solar on the site. Sapphire is the same except the glass part.
» Posted By FeRHaD On 31 Ağustos 2022 @ 1:38 am
Hi. Probably, I’d prefer from the front but access from both sides should be possible. Actually, access from the back may be even easier as the battery is glued to the back part.

It seems something more about the Zigbee radio. Is the figure with three lines used in Qorvo products?

Garmin Fenix 5X inner parts, teardown, disassembly, assembly etc… (No Disassemble! )
Merhaba.

@grezimonk
Posted By FeRHaD On 19 Ağustos 2020 @ 3:37 am

Diving inside Garmin Fenix 3, tear down etc…
«« Back To Stats PageNext time I’ll check it better but, it seems there is a strong adhesive between the display and the ring. I tried with my hands -not really hard- but the display didn’t move anyway. So I think there is a kind of strong adhesive between them. Maybe heating the ring and removing the display is possible but I can’t say anything certain.
